Description
Wharf Farmhouse is a farmhouse that was originally built as an agent's house for the Thames and Severn Canal Company in 1789. The building is constructed of limestone rubble with a roughcast facade and has a 20th-century interlocking tile roof. It features a central gabled block that is two storeys high with an attic, which is extended and set back on both sides by one bay, also two storeys high, topped with a square parapet that continues the main roofline. At the rear, there is a lean-to with a hipped roof.
Inside, there is a through hall in the main building. The front elevation displays raised quoins on the main block and wings, as well as raised surrounds around the openings. A central gabled porch, added in the 19th century, has a simple pediment, with the lower string being interrupted by an oval window in the attic. The windows have been replaced in the 20th century. The wings contain boarded doors on both floors and were previously used for stables, grain, and fodder storage. Some modifications were made around 1930 and again in 1980.
