Description
The Old School is a primary school built around 1870-1880. It features rock-faced limestone and a Welsh slate roof, designed in an L-shape with a gable facing the street, topped with a tall bellcote. The building includes a five-light plate tracery window with hexfoil openings at the top. To the south, there are paired gables with large square windows that have timber mullions. The entrance is located in a flat-roofed extension at the re-entrant angle. There are metal roof ventilators, and the windows on the west and east sides are trefoil-headed with three lights. The Old School is noted for its group value, as it is a prominent feature in the street scene, providing a strong visual stop on the east side of the street.
