Description

A pair of houses located on West Street in Malmesbury, dating from the early to mid-19th century, with earlier origins in a 17th-century house that was heightened and remodeled. The construction is of coursed limestone rubble with limestone dressings, brick gable stacks, and a stone slate roof. The houses follow a single-depth plan and are two storeys and an attic in height, with a one-window range to the front. The ground floor features dressed, cambered heads with linked imposts, each containing a modern glazed door. First-floor windows have timber lintels; No. 36 has 19th-century sash windows, while No. 38 has 20th-century casements. Evidence remains of two first-floor gables on the facade, mirroring the style of Nos. 30-38 Horsefair, and large quoins are visible on the left side. The interior has not been inspected.
