Description
Church Cottage is a house with origins in the 17th century, significantly altered in the earlier 19th century. It is constructed of rubble stone with a double Roman tiled roof, featuring a large rear wall stack and a north end stack. The house is two storeys and an attic, with a three-window front. There are three small dormers, and three 19th-century recessed, two-light mullion windows to the first floor. The central doorcase has a 19th-century studded door, and there are two 19th-century stone canted bays with a stone-tiled roof and mullion windows, featuring diamond-leaded lights throughout. A single-light window with a cyma-moulded head is visible on the north end wall. A rear wing includes a west end stack, a lean-to addition to the right, and a lean-to at the south-west corner, which faces the churchyard path. This wing has a diagonally set crowstepped gable with a finial and a hood-moulded window. Inside, there is a chamfered beam with run-out stops and label stops.
