Description

This is a row of three houses located on the north side of High Street in Malmesbury. The buildings date from the early 19th century, although they incorporate earlier structural elements. The construction consists of coursed limestone rubble, with Nos. 96 and 98 rendered. A brick ridge stack rises from the roof, which is covered in stone slates and interlocking tiles. The houses follow a double-depth plan.

The exterior presents a 1:2:3 window arrangement. No. 96 has late 19th-century horned sash windows and a mid-20th-century half-glazed door. A dormer window features a cambered head and matching sash. Its eaves run higher than those of Nos. 98 and 100, which are set lower down the hillside to the right. Originally, No. 98 was a three-window range, with the right-hand window now incorporated into No. 100. No. 100 has a roof with two sections on either side of the stack, and a slightly canted front at the former party wall. The front of No. 100 features a central doorway with a 19th-century six-panel door, a large 20th-century ground-floor window, and horned sashes with margin panes to the left and on the first floor. No. 98 has a recessed right-hand doorway, horned plate-glass sashes with margin panes, and a casement dormer with a cambered head. The interiors of the houses were not inspected.
