Description
Middle House is a 17th-century house constructed of limestone rubble with a stone slate roof. It stands three storeys tall and features three bays. The central lobby hall includes a later stair at the rear. The front elevation is symmetrical, highlighted by a central oak door set in a moulded doorcase with a label mould above it. The windows are three-light ovolo-moulded types, also with labels, except for the two-light window above the door and a one-light window on the second floor. Similar windows decrease in size by storeys on the south gable. There are external stacks located at the rear of the rooms on either side of the centre. A one-storey extension has been added to the rear on the right, which was refurbished in the 20th century.
Inside, the left room features a moulded stone fireplace and originally served as the parlour. Bar stopped beams and two 17th-century oak doors are present in the right room. There is also a stone fireplace in the upper floor left room. The roof consists of five bays with tenoned purlins, and the principals are tenoned to tie beams that bear on to the gable windows, indicating possible slightly later alterations.
