Description

This is a row of five cottages located in Corsham, dating from the 17th to 18th centuries. They are constructed of rubble stone with roofs covered in Bridgwater tiles. There are four ridge stacks, along with a coped gable at the north end and an additional stack on the north side. The cottages are mostly one and a half storeys in height.

Nos 6 and 7 date to the 18th century and have three dormer gables of varying sizes. One dormer includes a two-light window without mouldings, a larger gable has a two-light window with a flush cyma-moulded surround, and the third has casement windows. The ground floor of No 6 features a front door, a two-light window with a flush cyma-moulded frame, another two-light window with a dripstone, a blocked doorway, and a door to No 7 also featuring a dripstone. No 8 has a straight joint on each side, with a dormer gable containing a casement window over the door and a two-light window, both without mouldings, dating to the 19th century.

Nos 9 and 10 are from the 17th century and include a large dormer gable to No 9, which has three-light recessed ovolo-moulded windows with hoodmoulds on both floors, as well as a door to the right. No 10 has two smaller dormer gables and a two-window range of two-light recessed ovolo-moulded windows. The ground floor window to the right has been replaced with a 20th-century window, and a blocked door is located to the left. The interior of No 9 features a heavy beamed ceiling with bar stops to the chamfers.
