Description
No. 38 High Street is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the early 19th century. It is constructed of painted rendered stone and features a stone slate roof. The building has two storeys and an attic, with a total of four bays. Notable architectural details include raised quoins and a plat band. The central entrance is a recessed six-panel door topped with a leaded fanlight, and the reveals are also panelled. To the left of the door is a fluted tripartite window, while to the right is a margin glazed sash window on the ground floor. The first floor features plate glass sashes with moulded architraves and sills. The eaves are wide and moulded, and there are two hipped dormers along with gable brick stacks. At the rear, there is a timber-framed gable and a three-bay lower rear wing, which has a stone slate roof and sliding timber casement windows.
