Description

The Sargent tomb, located about 5 meters south of the rood stair of the Church of St. Andrew, is a chest tomb dating from the mid to later 18th century. It is constructed of ashlar and features two octagonal raised plaques on the north side, framed by panelled pilasters with a central rosette. The end and south side pilasters do not have a rosette. The south side includes a later inscription dedicated to Sarah Sargent. The tomb has a moulded base and cornice, along with a pulvinated frieze. It is situated in row 4, east of the churchyard path.
