Description
Nos 1 and 2 Prospect Square, also known as Nos 38 and 39 Prospect Square, are two-storey buildings constructed from coursed and snecked rubble, featuring dressed stone keys, brick chimneys, and quoins. They have bands at the plinth, cill, and lintel levels. The buildings have a double "T" ridge plan with a central cruciform chimney that has a dentil cornice. The roofs are tiled and include three courses of fish scale tiles. Each house has one range of windows with slightly cambered arches and two-light casements, along with three-light square bays on the ground floor. The front features two gables, and there are flanking extensions that are gabled on the returns. The first floor of these extensions is tile hung, with a single course of colour bands and fish scale tile bands. The bargeboards are scissor braced. The entrances are recessed in the corners and feature bracketed wood loggias. Nos 38 and 39 are designed in a similar style, reflecting the design of Nos 1 and 2.
