Description

Toll Cottage was built in 1762 for the Amesbury Turnpike Trust. The building is constructed of brick with a tiled roof. It is two storeys high and has a square plan, with a lean-to addition to the rear and a timber weatherboarded lean-to on the north side. The central entrance on the road-facing elevation has a boarded door within a timber porch, with tiled seating either side. Contemporary metal windows are set within stone lintels. The building has brick dentilled eaves and a pyramidal roof.
