Description
Rowcroft Cottage is a pair of cottages that have been combined into one dwelling. The building dates from the 18th century, with a core that originates from the 17th century, and it was extended in the 19th century. The exterior features a mix of chequered brick and red brick, topped with a Bridgwater tile roof that has end stacks on the main range, while the 19th-century addition to the right has a slate roof and an end stack.
The structure stands two storeys tall. The main range includes a rubble stone wall at the west end, which indicates the line of an earlier house, along with a high stone plinth and chequered brick above. The right side has flush quoins. On the first floor, there are two pairs of casement windows, and on the ground floor, there are two 3-light stone flush mullion windows and a central boarded door. The extension features a 2-light flush mullion window on each floor, with a 20th-century 2-light window to the left where a former door was located.
Inside, the main range contains a moulded Tudor-arched stone fireplace and a chamfered spine beam.
