Description
The walls and summerhouse in the walled garden to the west of Seend Green House are likely from the early 19th century and constructed of red brick in a garden-wall bond, featuring ashlar coping. The high wall along High Street has flush quoins at the west end and an adjacent door set in a flush moulded surround. There is an unusual ashlar recess that resembles a blank gun-port. The wall slopes down to the lower east side, where there is an early 19th-century iron gate in the center. On the south side, there is a 20th-century temple feature that incorporates two cast-iron Ionic columns, which are said to have originated from Penzance Market Hall. The wall rises to a higher west section that includes a central early 19th-century summerhouse made of ashlar with rounded ends. This summerhouse has a three-window front with a plinth, raised piers, and a moulded cornice. The cambered-head door is flanked by similar windows, all featuring carved keystones, and the glazing has been replaced in the 20th century.
