Description

The R. Lovelock monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard about 1 metre southeast of the I. Buckell monument and south of the tower of the Church of St. Mary. It dates from around 1785 and is made of ashlar stone. The north panel of the tomb is rectangular and is flanked by finely carved flaming urns with festoons above. The south panel is plain, with flanking strips. The tomb features lyre ends adorned with fruit and foliage drops, scrolled feet, and oval end plaques. It has a moulded base and cornice, with the earliest decipherable date on it being 1784, dedicated to R. Lovelock.
