Description
The Mary Buckell monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard about 7 meters south of the west tower of the Church of St. Mary. It dates from the late 18th century or early 19th century and is made of ashlar stone. The south side features a plaque framed by arched-head panels, each adorned with cherub heads above seated figures. The plaque is set within a parted curtain frame, with drapery partially covering urns on either side. The corners of the tomb are rounded and decorated with leaf motifs. The north side has a similar plaque, but it includes descending doves beneath the cherub heads. The monument is finished with a moulded base and cornice, along with a fluted frieze.
