Description

This is an 18th-century cottage located on Studley Lane, Studley Without Calne. The building is constructed of rubble stone and has a thatched roof, half-hipped to the south. A brick stack is situated at the south end of the main house and another at the north end. The cottage is one and a half storeys high.

The main house, on the right-hand side, features an eyebrow dormer window over two casement windows on the upper floor, with two further casement windows below. A central door has been inserted in a 20th-century porch. To the left of the main house is a range with an eyebrow dormer over a 20th-century casement window. There is a door with a timber lintel on the ground floor and a loading door in the south end of the wall on the first floor. An additional door and a small-paned iron casement window are also present on this left-hand range.

Historical estate plans from 1863, drawn by W. Coghlan, indicate that the left-hand range originally lacked the eyebrow dormer and the main range did not have the ground-floor casement windows.
