Description
West Leaze Farmhouse is an early 19th-century building that stands two and a half storeys high. It is constructed of rubble with a red brick front, featuring ashlar lintels and a plinth. The roof is a mansard slate design, with the southeast side being half nipped. The farmhouse has three dormers and three brick chimneys, along with gable end attic windows. There are four windows in total, which are glazing bar sashes arranged in tripartite form, except for the first-floor window above the entrance. This entrance is located to the left of center and has a moulded hood that is now supported by iron brackets, wide bead moulded jambs, and a half-glazed door with a patterned overlight.
To the left of the farmhouse is a low single-storey cowshed made of rubble with a slate roof. To the right, there is a former cheese room extension that forms an 'L' shape, with a lean-to at the rear for a pump and other utilities. Additionally, there is a washhouse and coach-house or servants' rooms at the back, constructed of stone with a half-hipped valley roof. The farmhouse seems to have originated due to the nearby canal, similar to Wharf Farmhouse.
