Description
No. 18 East End is a house located in Marshfield, dating from the early to mid-18th century. It is constructed of ashlar with a Cotswold stone slate roof featuring coped raised verges. The building has a single storey and attics, marked by two coped stone gables topped with saddlestone finials. On the ground floor, there are two paired 8-pane sash windows with edge roll moulded architraves, which sit beneath a continuous string course and a cornice in the gables. The central entrance features a plank door set in an ovolo moulded surround, topped by a flat stone hood supported by brackets. This house is an interesting example of vernacular architecture presented in a somewhat crude classical style.
