Description
This is a section of an estate wall and an archway located 5 yards north of the Three Shire Stones. The 17th-century gateway is set within a 19th-century estate wall. The rubble wall stands approximately 10 feet high and extends 5 yards on either side of the blocked ashlar gateway, which features a depressed arch head. The gateway has an ogee/ovolo moulded surround, a keystone, and blank shields in the spandrels, all topped with a hood mould. This structure is part of the estate wall associated with The Rocks, a large 17th-century country house that is now mostly demolished.
