Description
The Cook monument is a chest tomb located in the churchyard, about one metre north of the nave of the Church of St James the Great. It dates from the 18th century and is made of limestone. The tomb features a flat top with a moulded edge and a moulded base, supported by plain quarter balusters. On the north side, there are two shaped panels that display a central phoenix and foliage. The monument commemorates Sampson Cook, who died in 1794, along with other family members.
