Description
The Church of St Michael and All Angels is an Anglican church located in Hawkesbury, dating from the early 13th century with 14th-century restorations and 19th-century north windows. It is constructed of rubble, rendered on the north and west sides, and features freestone dressings, topped with a Cotswold stone slate roof. The church comprises a nave with a sanctuary and a north aisle.
On the south side, there are two 2-light windows with cinquefoil heads and rere-arches, while the north side has 19th-century 3-light windows with trefoil heads. The east window, dating from the 14th century, consists of three lights with trefoil heads, an ogee-shaped rere-arch, and a hood mould. The south door is accessed through a simple round arch. At the west end, there is an overhanging timber bellcote, and a half-hexagonal shaft with a grotesque figure is located on the west end of the north aisle.
Inside, the church features a four-bay arcade with pointed arches and octagonal piers, where the western pier and respond have capitals. There is also a trefoil-headed piscina under an ogee-headed opening and a Perpendicular octagonal font.
