Description
The Old Malthouse and Malt Cottage is a building dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with alterations in the 18th century and extensions in the 19th century. The exterior is rendered to resemble ashlar stone and features a double Roman tiled roof. The main block, located to the west, is two storeys high with attics, characterized by steep gables and mock timbering. It has three windows with glazing bar sashes and a bay window on the ground floor. The entrance includes a panelled door and a 19th-century gabled porch. To the left, there is a single-window 18th-century wing with segmental headed casements. Further to the east is a 19th-century wing constructed of rubble, also two storeys high, featuring segmental headed windows with brick dressings. Inside, there is a notable open string staircase with twisted balusters and a moulded handrail.
