Description

This is a mid-17th century house, altered later and with a 20th century addition to the rear. The house is constructed of rubble with stone dressings, quoins, and a rendered rear. It has a thatched roof with raised coped verges and kneelers, along with gable stacks. A pantiled lean-to and a plain tiled rear addition are also present. The front has two storeys and three windows: 19th century two-light casement windows with timber lintels are located at the first floor under the eaves. The second bay from the left features a 20th century door with a timber lintel. A single-storey lean-to and blocked window with a timber lintel are on the right return, with a 20th century window to the rear. The rear of the house includes a three-light casement window with stone ovolo mullions, a hood mould, and 19th century glazing at ground floor level. A 20th century window with a timber lintel, along with a small 19th century two-light casement, are also present. A two-storey extension dating from around 1940 has a door, a French window, and a three-light casement at the first floor. At the rear, there is one window at ground and first floor levels. Inside, the house features a former through passage. The front left room contains a cambered and chamfered lintel over the fireplace and an oven recess to the left. A narrow newel stair is located behind a plank and batten door with strap hinges, and a curved recess is to the left. Moulded beams are present, some of which are replacements, including a large central deep moulded beam. Windows are set in deep reveals, with ovolo moulding to the rear. To the right of the former passage, a beam has mortices for a screen. The front right room has a blocked stone fireplace, a chamfered beam above, and plank shutters to the windows.
