Description

The George Hotel, dating to the late 16th and early 17th centuries, is a substantial building of rubble construction with a pantile and double Roman tile roof. It features a central, large, diagonal stack of rubble and rendered material. The building has three Cotswold gables with ball finials, and two storeys and an attic. The facade has five windows, all with glazing bar sashes set within plain stone architraves and moulded cornices. A large, square-headed carriage entrance is centrally positioned. An elaborate 18th-century projecting cast iron bracket supports the inn sign. The interior retains an arch-braced collar truss roof with crude windbracing, along with some chamfered beams.
