Description
This is a mid-18th century house of coursed rubble construction with a pantile roof. It is a three-storey building with six windows, each featuring glazing bar sashes set within moulded stone architraves. The facade is finished with a modillion cornice and a pediment containing a circular stone ornament. Chamfered quoins are present, and the two central first-floor windows have stone pediments with pulvinated friezes. A distinctive Ionic portico and pediment enhance the front elevation. A 20th-century bow window is located on the ground floor. A datestone inscribed 1740 was carved in 1981.
At the rear of the property are two wings, each of two storeys. The north wing features a 3-light casement window with stone mullions, chamfered quoins, and coped verges. The south wing has 20th-century replacement windows. A two-storey rear extension to the main block incorporates Tuscan pilasters, a frieze, a cornice, and a parapet, alongside 16-pane sashes. A central Venetian window is positioned above the extension. A substantial rear chimney is constructed of rubble and ashlar.
The interior includes a panelled room to the right, distinguished by a dentilled cornice. The hall contains a fireplace that was originally located elsewhere in the house, featuring a bolection mould and a quatrefoil panel above the mantel. A main beam exhibits a double ogee mould. A dogleg staircase has an open string with alternating twisted and straight balusters.
