Description
There are two chest tombs located in the churchyard, 4 and 10 metres north-west of the tower of the Church of St Mary and St Peter. These tombs date from the late 18th century and are made of limestone. One is an unidentified monument dated 1764, featuring a moulded base, a cyma recta slab, bulbous angle pilasters, and coved inscription panels on either side. It also has a heraldic cartouche on the west end and leaf sprays in the spandrels of the panels, though the incised lettering has eroded over time. The second tomb is a Shire monument of a similar date and design, but it has plain inscription panels.
