Description
Wraxall Court is a manor house dating from 1658, with the initials SG (Simon Gorges) displayed on the porch. The building was remodeled in the early to mid-18th century and extended in the early to mid-19th century. It features a rendered and ashlar exterior with a hipped slate roof behind a coped parapet and a moulded eaves cornice.
The house is two storeys high, with attics that include three dormer windows. The façade consists of three groups of three bays, all with glazing bar sash windows. The outer six bays are early to mid-19th century two-storey bow windows, which have pilasters with incised capitals between the ground floor windows, a panelled frieze, tripartite first floor windows with segmental heads, a cornice, and a panelled apron. The panelled eaves are supported by brackets.
The central three bays feature segmental hoods on brackets above the ground floor windows. There is a central projecting porch with a moulded doorway that has imposts and a semi-circular head. This porch is flanked by Ionic columns on high pedestals, with a plain frieze and a moulded cornice.
