Description
The stable arch is attached to the south-west angle of Butcombe Court, dating from the late 18th century. Constructed from rubble with freestone dressings, it demonstrates a composite Classical-Gothic style. The structure consists of two semi-circular towers that project from the wall, each featuring a flush-dressed stone round-headed arch and arrowslits above. The towers are topped with dressed stone parapets and rough stone battlements. A keyed, round-headed arch connects the towers, springing from piers with plain imposts. A section of wall on the right-hand tower obscures a woodshed located behind it.
