Description

The Old School House is a former parochial school, dating from 1818. It is constructed of rubble with large freestone quoins and dressings, and has a hipped pantile roof with brick stacks. The building is designed in a Gothic style. It is two storeys high. The front elevation features two windows with Y-tracery pointed arches, chamfered mullions and surrounds. A central plank door is set within an ashlar surround incorporating imposts and a keystone, and is topped by a cornice. Above the door, an inscribed ashlar tablet reads “LONG ASHTON/ PAROCHIAL/SCHOOL/1818”.
