Description

The Old Bakery is a cottage, likely dating from the 17th century, situated at the end of a terrace in West Lulworth. It is constructed of colourwashed stone with a thatched roof and brick stacks. The building is one storey in height with attic accommodation. The road-facing elevation features a casement window with glazing bars on the ground floor and a horizontally sliding sash window under the eaves. The main elevation, facing east, has a central ledged door. The ground floor of this elevation has a double-hung sash window and a horizontally sliding sash window, both with glazing bars. Three half-dormers with horizontally sliding sashes and glazing bars are visible in the attic. A single-storey thatched extension to the south, likely a former stable, includes one stable door and one part-glazed door. The building was formerly the village bakery, and the interior still contains old ovens. A stone buttress located at the junction of this house and number 11 covers a blocked door, revealing that the two properties were originally a single building.
