Description

Stony Weir is a stone structure located at the junction of the River Frome and the mill stream, with its date uncertain but referred to as "The Old Stony Weir" in a 17th-century document. Part of it lies in East Stoke Parish. The weir features nine pointed arches and has extended cutwaters on the lower side. On the upper side, there are remnants of cutwaters below the water level, as well as remains of stone paving on the riverbed. Currently, water is held at the upper level by halved concrete pipes.
