Description
Nicholson's Farmhouse is a house with origins dating back to the 16th century or earlier, which was rebuilt in 1728. It is constructed from coursed squared rubble and features a thatched roof, hipped on the left side and gabled on the right. There is a brick stack located to the left of the door. The house has two storeys and a three-window range, with two and three-light casements; the central window on the upper floor has leaded lights. The entrance includes a part-glazed panelled door with a flat hood above it. A datestone on the building reads 'CWM 1728'.
Inside, notable features include an open fireplace with a cambered timber bressummer and chamfered jambs, a niche with a two-centred head, a plank and muntin partition, and a deep chamfered ceiling beam. The roof is said to contain remnants of smoke blackened trusses, indicating that the building may have originally served as an open hall. There is a later extension to the left of the original structure.
