Description

No 40 is a factory located behind No 40 on the east side of White Cliff Mill Street, dating from around 1830. It is a two-storey building with a five-window stucco front and a mansard roof featuring dormers and a parapet. There are decorative panels above the first-floor sash windows. The round-headed doorway has a glazed door and a semi-circular fanlight, with a moulded archivolt and panelled blocks at the impost level. Double wooden boarded doors are situated at the left-hand end. The factory behind No 40 dates from the late 18th century to the 19th century and has a wide northern front made of alternate courses of flint and brick, topped with a tiled roof.
