Description
Lower Stockbridge Farm House is a farmhouse with origins dating back to the early to mid-17th century. It was extended in the 18th century and altered in the mid-20th century. The building features rubble stone walls and a tiled roof that is hipped at the left end, adorned with crested ridge tiles. There are three brick stacks: one at the right end, one near the left end, and one in the center. The farmhouse is two storeys high.
The right end section, which dates from the 17th century, includes a 20th-century porch with a lean-to roof and a stable door. Both the ground and first floors of this section have two 20th-century metal casements. The left section, which is from the 18th century, has two 20th-century metal casements on the ground floor and three sash windows with glazing bars on the first floor.
Inside, the 17th-century section features a large open fireplace with a timber lintel and some deep chamfered ceiling beams. There are various 19th and 20th-century additions at the rear. The farmhouse is included for its group value and the surviving internal features.
