Description
The Crown Hotel is a house that has been converted into an inn, originally built in the 17th century with later additions and alterations from the 17th, 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. The original section is constructed of rubble and features a thatched roof, while the later sections are made of ashlar and rubble with a tiled roof. The building has various brick chimney stacks and is part single storey with an attic and part two storey. The windows are arranged irregularly, primarily featuring 19th and 20th century casements with glazing bars. The 18th century east extension includes sash windows with glazing bars and has a carriageway leading to the inn yard. There is a plank door situated under a flat hood. Although the interior has been largely remodelled, several original features such as chamfered beams and bressummers have been preserved, mostly reset.
