Description
Nos 9 and 9A on Cornhill are mid-19th century buildings constructed from Portland ashlar. They rise three storeys with attics and feature a band above the first floor, a moulded eaves cornice, and a blocking course. The façade has four ranges of sash windows with glazing bars; the first-floor windows have moulded architraves. No 9 displays a distinctive late 19th-century shopfront, which includes a fascia with "Foster Brothers" in white and gold lettering. In contrast, No 9A has a 20th-century shopfront. Together with Nos 2 to 10 Cornhill, these buildings form a cohesive group.
