Description
Nos. 48, 49, and 50 Charlotte Row are three houses in a row, which also include commercial premises. They were built in the late 18th century or early 19th century and were extended and modified in the late 19th century. The buildings feature painted Flemish bond brickwork and have a tiled double roof with a central valley. They stand three storeys tall with an attic, each house having three windows, all of which are plain sashes.
Each house includes two tiled hipped dormers with casement lights above square sashes on the second floor, although No. 48 has longer sashes. The first floor features alternating sashes and French doors behind an added verandah. The verandah for Nos. 48 and 49 has a glazed front with six paired lights that have arched heads, above a panelled lower section. No. 50 has an open three-bay verandah with a plain lower section serving as a deep fascia.
On the ground floor, there is a glazed front directly below the verandah front, arranged in six bays, but No. 50 has a full-width 20th-century shop front. A continuous stone moulded cornice, blocking course, and parapet run along the top, and each property features a large ridge stack on the right party wall. The original frontage is set back approximately 2 meters from the adjacent properties, allowing for the later addition of the verandah and glazed frontages. The interior has not been inspected.
