Description

The Retreat is an attached house dating from the early 19th century. It features rubble stone walls that have been re-pointed, with brick quoins at the right-hand corner. The roof is made of clay tiles and stone slabs at the eaves, topped with stone gable copings. There are brick stacks at each gable. The house has two storeys and two windows, which are sashes with glazing bars that were renewed in the 20th century, and have gauged brick window heads. The front door, located on the left side of the ground floor, is made of wood with flush panels and glass lights, dating from the early 19th century. It is framed by a reeded door surround and has a bracketed wooden canopy above.
