Description
Girt House is a detached house built in the mid-18th century. It features red brick walls laid in Flemish bond, with a dog-tooth brick cornice and rubble-stone gable walls. The roof is covered with plain tiles, and there are 20th-century brick stacks at each gable. The house has two storeys and attics, with five sash windows that have glazing bars, recessed wooden frames, and wooden cills. The windows are adorned with gauged brick voussoirs and projecting stone keys painted white. The upper centre window is a Venetian style. There are two 20th-century dormers with tiled hipped roofs. The front door is centrally located and has six fielded panels, topped with a fanlight featuring glazing bars and fluted pilaster framing. A leaded wooden canopy supported by wooden brackets covers the entrance. At the rear, there is a stone range with a tiled roof and a tall 20th-century brick stack at the ridge, which also has two windows with 20th-century wooden casements.
