Description
Dog Cottage is a pair of cottages that have been combined into one house, dating from the early to mid 18th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. The building is constructed of cob on a flint and brick plinth, topped with a thatched roof featuring half-hipped ends. Each cottage has a brick stack at the left gable end.
The exterior is two storeys and one storey with an attic, presenting an asymmetrical southeast front with five windows. The windows are a mix of two, three, and four-light casements with small panes. There is a glazed door on the left and plank doors at the centre and right, along with two small windows at the rear.
Inside, the cottage features chamfered ceiling beams with run-out stops. The right-hand room includes a brick fireplace with a chamfered timber bressumer also featuring run-out stops. The interior retains 18th-century two-panel and plank doors, along with a tenoned purlin roof structure.
