Description

Nos 43 to 57 on West Allington are late 18th century buildings constructed of red brick with a hammer dressed stone plinth and a pitched slate roof. The buildings are two storeys high. Nos 43 to 51 feature five ranges of casement windows with glazing bars, except for No 51, which has a 19th-century tripartite sash window. Nos 53, 55, and 57 each have one range of sash windows with glazing bars, although modern shop fronts have been added to Nos 53 and 55. There are five doors with blind semi-circular fanlights, and Nos 43 and 57 have six-panelled doors. This group of buildings, including the Plymouth Inn and Nos 61 to 71, is of notable architectural interest.
