Description

This is a range of cottages built after 1803. Numbers 8 to 10, 12 to 18, and number 11 (now subdivided into numbers 1 to 3 Dolphin Cottages) form a group of buildings.

Number 8 has one window bay and a door. It has a colourwashed front, a slate gabled roof, and a 3-light wood casement window above and below ground floor level. It features a ledged door with a glazed panel. Number 9 has a stuccoed front and a slate gabled roof, with similar 3-light wood casement windows and a 4-panelled door with upper 2 panels glazed. Number 10 also has a stuccoed front and a slate roof, with two windows and a central doorway. The windows are sash windows with 5 panes, and a moulded architrave, frieze and cornice adorn the doorway, which contains a 6-panelled door with the top two panels glazed and panelled reveals.

Number 11 was formerly an inn and has been converted and altered into three cottages. It has a roughcast front with a stuccoed plinth, two storeys, and two facets. The east-facing facet has two window bays, with windows of 5 panes above and 4 panes below. The north-east facing facet has one window bay and a door, both with 4-pane sash windows and a modern half-glazed door.

Number 12 has a new slate-coloured roof, roughcast front, and a cemented plinth. It has one 3-light wood casement window with small panes above and below, and a ledged door with a small glazed panel. Numbers 13 and 14 each have one window bay and a door, with slate gabled roofs, roughcast fronts, cemented plinths and architraves. Number 13 has a 3-light casement window with small panes, while number 14 has a 4-panelled door with the top two panels cut away and glazed.

Numbers 15 and 16 have corrugated roofs, roughcast fronts, and doors in the centre. They both have 3-light casement windows and 4-panelled doors with the top two panels cut away and glazed. Number 17 has a corrugated roof, roughcast front, a 3-light wood casement window above and below, and a ledged door with a glazed panel. Number 18 (Primrose Cottage) has been altered, has a slate gabled roof, roughcast front, modern metal framed casements and a 4-panelled door with the upper two panels glazed.
