Description
The dovecot, located approximately 5 meters west of Stock Gaylard House, is now used as an ornamental summerhouse. Its exact date of origin is uncertain, but it may be medieval in origin. A rainwater head on the structure is dated 1675, and it was extensively remodeled around 1800. The dovecot is a circular building made of coursed rubble with ashlar dressings, topped with a conical tiled roof that features a weather vane and some brick dressings. The south side has doorways and windows with segmental pointed heads, while the north side has a 2-light window under a 2-centred head. The upper storey includes a clock, which, according to the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments, dates from the late 18th century or early 19th century.
