Description
Blackrow Farmhouse is a farmhouse likely dating from the early 17th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble walls and has a thatched roof with hipped ends and a central rendered stack. The building follows an L-shaped plan, with a front range featuring a lobby entrance. It is two storeys high, with a four-window front. The windows are stone mullioned, square-headed, and hollow-chamfered, with leaded lights. A C19 brick gabled porch with a round brick arch and C20 glazed doors is located in the third bay from the left. Above this porch is a bulls-eye window with a moulded ashlar surround. C19 and C20 outshuts have been added to the rear, and C20 fenestration is present on the rear elevation. Internally, some plank and muntin partitions remain, although they are partially encased. The fireplaces have shallow chamfered bressummers, and the ceiling features medium stop-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops. Original collar trusses are visible in the roof.
