Description
The milestone located 100 meters southwest of Treravel Farm was likely erected in 1890 or shortly thereafter. It is situated on the west side of the road and is made of granite, featuring a triangular shape with a flat top. The shorter sides are angled to face north and south, displaying inscriptions that indicate the distance to nearby towns. The south face reads "PADSTOW / 2" and the north face reads "WADEBRIDGE / 6," both in incised sans serif capitals. The lower part of the milestone is painted black, while the upper part is white, with the lettering highlighted in black.
This milestone is part of a series of five that mark the route between Padstow and Wadebridge along what is now the A389. The road was designated as a Main Road in 1890, and the milestones were erected by Cornwall County Council, likely all produced by the same mason at the same time.
