Description

Firleigh and the house attached to the left are a pair of attached houses that originated in the late 17th century but were largely rebuilt in the mid 19th century, with some alterations in the 20th century. The buildings are constructed of rubble and rendered, featuring a hipped slate roof with a large central ridge stack that heats both houses, and slate hanging on the left end.

The original layout is unclear, but the 17th-century house was divided in the mid 19th century, resulting in each house having a passage along the outer side, with front rooms adjoining at the center, creating a double depth plan. The structure has two storeys and four windows, all of which are 16-pane sashes on the first floor. The ground floor of Firleigh includes a 16-pane sash window and a 20th-century gabled porch. There is a single-storey addition set back to the right with a 20th-century window and a stack on the side. The ground floor of the house to the left features a 20th-century flat-roofed porch with a half-glazed door and sidelights, a 16-pane sash window, and a two-storey 19th-century addition to the left with two 4-pane sashes on the first floor and one on the ground floor, which is slate-hung.

Inside the house to the left, part of a moulded plaster cornice is retained in the passage, and the front room features a moulded plaster frieze. The rest of the interior is not accessible.
