Description
Benson House is a small country house from the 18th century that has undergone significant repairs in the 20th century. The front features stucco and slate hanging, with a half-hipped dry Delabole slate roof that extends lower over the flanking wings. It has 12 gable roof dormers and likely follows a double-depth plan. The house is two storeys tall with a symmetrical five-window front. The central bay projects forward and is topped with a triangular pediment that contains a lunette, all set within the old slate hanging. There are modillioned cornices, stucco quoins, and remnants of a string course. The windows are 20th-century horned sashes with glazing bars, including a central sash that was once part of a doorway. The interior has not been inspected but has been noted to have been remodeled in the 1970s and 1980s.
