Description
Besowsa Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 19th century and possibly earlier. It is constructed of granite rubble with granite dressings and features scantle slate hipped roofs and brick chimneys. The building is U-shaped, with wings at the back, and has two storeys and three windows. The ground floor walling at the front is from an older house. There is an off-centre door to the left, which has four flush beaded panels. The openings are slightly arched and feature granite voussoirs and projecting keystones. There is a glazed 20th-century porch, with a 16-paned sash window to the left and a 20th-century window to the right. On the first floor, there are two 16-paned sash windows and one 20th-century window. The chimneys are located over the side walls. The interior has seen little alteration and includes an open-welled staircase with turned newels and plain square balusters, which are panelled underneath. Granite floors are preserved in the service areas. A wall with a door encloses the back courtyard between the wings.
