Description
Bodrean Manor is an early 19th-century country house, with earlier 18th-century fabric to the rear and a late 19th-century service wing. The main house is constructed of stucco over shale, with Delabole slate roofs and brick chimneys. It has an irregular H-shaped plan.
The south front is symmetrical, with three bays of three windows across, slightly taller ground-floor windows, all featuring 12-pane sashes. These are set within slightly arched openings with projecting granite keyblocks and granite sills. A moulded cornice sits under a parapet with a block course and coping. Early 19th-century additions include flanking canted bays with cornices and parapets, broken over the central windows by open pedimented dormer windows. The bay roofs are multi-hipped.
The west front terminates in a gable pediment. It features a granite Tuscan doorcase with a 12-pane sash window above, and blind windows on the ground and first floors to the right. Rusticated stucco quoins add detail.
An 18th-century, hipped-roofed range adjoins the left side, with a later end bay projection featuring 16-pane sashes. A late 19th-century service wing extends to the northeast, incorporating a steep, conical roof over a stair turret within the angle, in a Chateau style.
Three later buttresses have been added to the right bays of the south front. The interior remains uninspected.
