Description
No. 151 Charlestown Road is an unequal pair of houses that have been combined into one dwelling, dating from the mid-19th century. The building is constructed of Killas rubble and features stone keyed segmental brick arches and brick jambs around the window openings. It has a dry Delabole slate hipped roof with a brick stack on the left and an axial stack towards the right, along with a cast-iron ogee gutter. The plan is shallow-depth, likely consisting of two rooms at the front, with originally paired entrances on the left and a possible trap house on the right.
The exterior is two storeys high and has an overall three-window range. The windows are late 19th or early 20th century four-pane horned sashes fitted into the original openings. There are two doorways towards the left; the left-hand door is panelled and glazed, while the other door features a sash window. On the right, there is a wide opening spanned by a painted curved oak lintel that forms a segmental arch, fitted with a 10-pane window. The interior has not been inspected. These houses are part of an unspoilt planned china clay and fishing port.
